Jump-starting a car used to be a complex process, which required the help of another car and a set of jumper cables.
Alternatively, people call roadside assistance services or a taxis for help but that can get expensive and take several hours, especially in the middle of winter when many vehicles face this exact issue on a daily basis.
Furthermore, if your dead car is in a remote location, these options are generally not even available to you and if your vehicle's battery is inaccessible, you may need to pay extra to have your car towed to gain access to the battery.
With the help of a portable jump starter, however, jump-starting a car is now as easy as charging your cellphone. Below, we'll explain how to jump-start your car's discharged battery the easy way using a portable jump starter.
In order to jump-start your car easily, you'll first need a portable jump starter. A portable jump starter is a wireless battery pack equipped with a 12-volt port and special booster cables. Using this device, you'll be able to boost your own battery without the help of another car.
Connect the special booster cables to the jump starter's 12-volt port and turn on the device. Make sure the jump starter is at least 50% charged. The device will perform better with more battery power.
Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal battery terminal and the black clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal.
Start your vehicle as you normally would using your key or push-start button. Let the vehicle run for about 1 minute.
Disconnect the red clamp first and then the black clamp from the battery terminal after you have successfully boosted your car. Power off the portable jump starter and disconnect the booster cables from the device. Put the battery and cables inside the case and store in your trunk for future use.
