Looking to replace headlights, fog lights or other small lights on your vehicle? Buying the right bulb size is easy when you know which bulb size you need.
There are many different bulbs sizes and each car requires a specific bulb size. Getting the exact bulbs for your car is the only way they will fit and work!
Using the Sylvania Replacement Bulb Guide, you can find the exact bulbs you need by simply entering the year, make and model of your vehicle, just like our proprietary Vehicle Bulb Finder for HID and LED headlight conversion kits.
The first step is to enter your vehicle details, the year, make and model of your vehicle. For example, 2018 Ford F-150.
The next step is to select the bulb or bulbs your are looking to replace or as Sylvania calls it, Bulb Position. For example, Headlight Low Beam.
The last step is to click on Full vehicle bulb list to see the bulb size your vehicle requires for the specific position.
As you can see from the results, the Headlight Low Beam bulb size for the 2018 Ford F-150 is the popular and common H11 bulb.
Some vehicles are more complex and can have several different options, unlike our simple example of the 2018 Ford F-150 which only has one possible bulb size for each beam,
Recommendation: Check a bulb replacement guide and your original bulbs to be sure you are getting the right bulbs!
Let’s take a look at a more complex vehicle, the 2019 RAM 1500. This vehicle has 2 different options for both the headlight low beams and the fog lights.
As you can see from the Sylvania Bulb Replacement Guide, the low beam requires an H11 if it has a reflector-type headlight or a 9005 if it has a projector type headlight and the model with vertical fogs requires 9006 bulbs while the model with horizontal fogs requires 9145 bulbs.
So, if your car is like the 2019 RAM 1500, it is best to pull out your original bulbs so you can see exactly what bulb size you need. This way, you can be 100% sure you are getting the same bulb size that is already in your vehicle.
If your bulbs are so dirty (or damaged) that you cannot see the bulb size, simply compare your bulb to the pictures in the Sylvania Bulb Replacement Guide.
If you already know which bulb size you need, you can simply search it directly instead of going through the vehicle search process. This will be quicker and easier.
If a valid bulb size is entered, you will be shown various images of the bulb at different angles.
Although an amazing tool, the Sylvania Bulb Replacement Guide is only good for cars with original factory lights.
If you installed aftermarket headlights, for example, your headlights will likely take a different bulb size than your factory lights. As a result, you cannot rely on Sylvania’s guide in such cases since you will likely be ordering the wrong bulb size.
Reminder: There are many different bulb sizes and getting the exact one you need is crucial for fitment and functioning!
For aftermarket lights, we recommend pulling out the bulb to check the size and then you can shop by bulb size.
Thankfully, there are many ways of finding out which bulb size your vehicle requires for a specific position:
